    Question
Can I track a car on CARFAX using the license plate number?

    Answer
CARFAX’s system searches its database using a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) rather than a license plate number. The VIN is the primary search method for most database systems including state DMVs.

We are unaware of any license plate search functions at this time.
